They actually have the most players in this squad from the 80's though, when they reached the semi-finals of the 1984 Euros. There are the 4 European Cup winners from this decade (Nielsen, Heintze, Lerby, Arnesen), as well as Liverpool icon Jan Molby, Balon D'Or runner-up Preben Elkjaer, and the country's greatest defender Morten Olsen, who made Euro '84 Team of the Tournament. The team is strongest with Middelboe at centre-back, allowing Pilmark to start in midfield. Sivebæk can also cover as a back-up right-back in the squad, so there was no need for Johnny Hansen or Bent Hansen. Molby , Karl Aage Hansen and Arnesen cover the midfield diamond, with Christian Eriksen just missing out. Jensen, Jorgensen and John Angelo Hansen are further forward options, chosen ahead of the likes of Poul Nielsen, Ole Madsen, Harald Nielsen and Jorgen Sorensen.
